Background
1984 was the first year for the Saleen Mustang. Steve Saleen, a former professional Formula Atlantic race car driver, built just three Mustangs that first year following on concepts, ideas and experiences he had obtained during his racing career. Today, all three of those first Saleen Mustangs are owned by one collector. As such, a clone is as close as you’ll ever come to owning one of these iconic first year vehicles and building a clone is extremely hard, due to the scarcity of parts.

Vehicle Specifics
This 1984 Mustang hatchback left the factory as a Mustang L with an anemic 3.8L V6 and automatic transmission. In 2009, I acquired it from the second owner, who had only owned it for a few months. The Stang was completely unmolested, had never been in any type of traffic accident, and in fact still wore its factory original silver paint. The Stang was completely disassembled and every part was either refinished or replaced. No corners were cut, and no expense spared in creating this spectacular 1984 Saleen Mustang clone, right down to the factory markings.
